scar-treatment

A scar can develop from an injury or surgery. Once it's formed, it never completely goes away. Large, distinct scars, especially on the face or other exposed body parts, can cause emotional distress and lower one's confidence.

At Lazaderm, we have several treatments that can treat scars and minimize their visibility to the human eye.

Types of Scars

Flat Scar

A flat scar, also known as a cicatrix scar, mostly resembles your normal skin color. The flat scar can also appear one shade darker or lighter than your skin tone, though.

Raised Scar

A raised scar is medically termed a hypertrophic scar. This type of scar is most often found on the chest, back, or shoulder.

A raised scar will rise above your's skin surface and flatten over several months or years. It's recommended that you should see a provider to learn why your scar isn't healing properly.

Atrophic scar

Atrophic scars mostly form on the face. The atrophic scar is often related to acne scars or infection. Atrophic scars worsen over time as the skin loses elasticity and begins to sag.

Keloid Scar

Keloid scar grows significantly larger than the size of the original wound. They don't go away on their own and require treatment. Keloid scar can interfere with movement, especially when formed over a joint.

Keloid scars are most commonly found in people with darker skin tones.

Contracture Scar

This type of scarring can seriously interfere with the ability to move comfortably. They are usually caused by serious burns or the formation of large keloid scars.

A contracture scar can also affect muscles and nerves if they are deep enough.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are typically caused by breaks in the tissue underneath the skin. Puberty, pregnancy, quick weight gain or weight loss are the causes of stretch marks.

In the early stages, stretch marks are red, purple or brown, but they will fade into a white or silver hue.

Scar Treatments

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is often used to reduce the appearance of scarring on the face. The technique removes surface levels of the skin and improves skin imperfections. Our fractional laser concentrates precisely onto the targeted area with minimal damage to the surrounding tissue.

Microneedling

Microneedling with radiofrequency allows the heat to reach a deeper layer of skin. The microneedles penetrate the surface and create micro-injuries that can stimulate the healing process. The healing process also promotes the production of new collagen and elastin fibers.

While there are available at-home micro-needling rollers, we recommend you go for a professional procedure. DIY treatment can cause further injury and damage the skin more, causing much larger punctures on the surface of the skin.

Injectables and Dermal Fillers

Our injectables and dermal fillers are all FDA-approved. They are injected safely by a board-certified provider. Fillers and injectables work best with atrophic scars because they plump up the skin and add volume to the area.

Our fillers include Juvederm and Restylane, which are hyaluronic-based fillers that can add volume and stimulate collagen production. Dermal fillers deliver immediate results and can last a few months to a year.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is most popular for treating acne and scarring. It's a minimally invasive procedure that exfoliates dead skin. The aesthetician uses a diamond-tipped handpiece to remove the top layer. Microdermabrasion can reduce the look of scarring and result in radiant, smoother and brighter skin.

This technique can work on the face and other parts of the body. It can effectively treat stretch marks and reduce the white/silver lines of a scar.
