What is Dysport?

Dysport is a prescription injection that temporarily improves the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adult patients less than 65 years old. Dysport helps you remove the frown lines without affecting the movement of your expression.

Frown lines are not always caused by ages. Repeated movement of facial expressions such as frowning or squinting can create frown lines. Dysport is a temporary wrinkle remover that will help you get back your natural youth look

Dysport Injection

With just 1 injection into each of the 5 points between and over the eyebrows, Dysport blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles, which reduces muscle activity and temporarily prevents contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines between the eyebrows.

Dysport can be placed in the following areas: forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, lines between the eyebrows (glabellum), lines on the sides of the nose (bunny lines), corners of the mouth (lip depressors), eyebrows (brow lift) and neck bands. Some of these areas are considered “off-label” use of Dysport. Dysport can also be used for hyperhidrosis which is excessive sweating.

Dysport injection might not be right for you if:

  • You have surgical changes to your face

  • Very weak muscles in the treatment area

  • Your face looks different from side to side

  • The injection site is inflamed

  • You have droopy eyelids or sagging eyelid folds

  • Deep facial scars

  • Thick oily skin

  • Your wrinkles can’t be smoothed by spreading them apart.

Dysport vs. Botox

Although both Dysport and Botox are created from botulinum toxin type A, there are a few slight differences between Dysport and Botox. Dysport spreads out a little further than Botox. This can be an advantage for some areas like the forehead but a disadvantage for other areas like the glabella. In this area, Dysport can spread further and affect the muscle of the eye that raises the eyelid. Dysport does begin working faster than Botox and will be at full benefit sooner than Botox. For most patients, there is not a big difference and they can be used interchangeably.
